General Questions
My boiler has stopped working. What should I do?
Call Ascot Heating today on 03 9370 3326 and speak to one of our technicians. We can help with the repair or replacement of your boiler with limited downtime.
How long should it take to heat my house?
It should take around 15 minutes to heat your entire home with a modern heating system. We suggest it’s cheaper to leave the system on and maintain a steady temperature ALL winter
Is hydronic heating expensive to install?
Yes, when compared to other heating systems, this is due to the high-quality European components. However, other heating systems can’t match the comfort levels and the reduced running costs that modern hydronic heating systems offer.
How cheap are hydronic heating systems to run?
During winter in Melbourne, hydronic heating systems are around 400% cheaper to use than reverse cycle air conditioning and 30% cheaper than gas ducted heating.
Which is better, a condensing boiler or a high-efficiency boiler?
Both are efficient, however condensing boilers require more servicing and cost more in the long-term. High-efficiency boilers better suit panel/radiator heating, whereas condensing boilers suit slab heating.
Which heating is recommended for use on properties in Melbourne, panel/radiators or slab?
Panel/radiators are highly recommended for Melbourne’s changing climate. Slab heating is more expensive to run, however, if you are building your home and planning to have concrete or tile floors, please give us a call to discuss your options.
Can I get domestic hot water (DHW) from my boiler?
Yes. We have many boiler options which produce DHW and suit homes of all sizes.
Can I heat my pool with my boiler?
Yes, our innovative patent-pending heating system uses your existing or new boiler to heat your pool to a preferred temperature all year round. Call us today for more information.
I want hydronic heating, but don’t like the look of panels and radiators.
There are many different types of radiators and panels to suit everyone. The old-style, chunky radiators have been replaced by modern panels that are designed to complement most buildings.
How long will it take to replace my old ducted unit with a hydronic heating system?
Our technicians will remove and replace your old ducted heating unit in approximately two days. We can even arrange for the recycling of your old equipment.
Why should I consider changing from ducted heating to a hydronic system?
The ducts often end up containing dust and mould (and sometimes dead rodents), placing you and your family at risk of allergies and illness.
Can you zone hydronic heating?
Yes. Every radiator/panel has a control valve, conveniently enabling each room to be independently regulated, saving you money year after year on your energy bills.
Can I get a thermostat controlled by my mobile phone?
Yes you can. In fact, we often recommend them to allow the remote control of heating in holiday homes.
